Sharing My Why ❤️

 
 
 
 

I was the queen of tantrums as a toddler. Much to my parents horror and frustration I'd regularly throw myself down in an aisle kicking and screaming, whether it was at the supermarket or as flower girl at my aunty's wedding. I was feeling my feels and the whole world was going to know about it.

I've always experienced and expressed my emotions on a grand scale. In my adult life my struggles with emotional-regulation shifted. My tantrums are now thrown internally. Parts of me flaring up and sharing their dislike, criticism, and judgement of how I "should" be. And when I'm faced with an emotionally intense interaction my default is to either freeze and shutdown, or do what I can to fawn my way outta the situation.

 
 
 
 

I now understand that these are how the body reacts to stressful emotions, but it wasn't until my early thirties during my EFT Practitioner training that I learned about this, alongside the power of the autonomic nervous system and the role it plays in our emotional state.

Learning how to regulate my nervous system, to help discharge emotion from my mind and body in a controlled way, has had an incredible impact on my life. It's helped me shift from being a victim of my emotions, to an empowered state from which I support myself when the big feels come my way.

 
 
 
 

Practicing regulating has become a daily part of my life. Whether it be through using breathing techniques, EFT Tapping, sound healing, mindful movement, or other somatic experiences. As a result, it's become second nature to turn to these practices in moments of stress to help myself show up in a way that I'm proud of.

My passion for sharing this knowledge and connecting people with these tools led me to becoming an Emotional Fitness Coach and starting Energy For Impact, nearly 3 years ago now! And it's what empowered me to say "YES!" to collaborating with my amazing mum on 𝘔𝘺 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩!

 
 
 
 

Bringing to life this book series, the social-emotional training we've developed to accompany it, and the work that I do through EFI, is dedicated to...

❤️ My younger self, for whom I wish I could turn back time and share these skills with. So that she could have felt less alone and more empowered to support herself through the challenges of our childhood.

❤️ My fellow adults, who are aware of the importance of developing emotional-regulation skills for themselves, and the kids they care for. Access to this information and kid-friendly resources wasn't available back when my parents were raising me, and so it is an honour to offer them today as a way to help you help yourself and your kids.

❤️ My adorable nieces, nephews, and all of the worlds children. I am grateful to be contributing to your empowerment and the development of a strong internal support system. May it help you to navigate todays world, and face wherever the future takes us.

 
 
 
 

It's my way of sharing with the world the gift that I've received from the countless teachers who have supported me in developing my "superpower" of self-regulation.
