Superhero Training in Developing Resilience
Imagine witnessing your child confidently regulate their emotions through the ups and downs of life.
Combining breath awareness with mindful breathing is the empowering resilience strategy that is the focus of this learning guide.
What is resilience?
Resilience is accepting and managing your feelings. It is knowing how to stay calm under pressure and recover quickly from problems. Resilience is being able to pause to make a conscious choice of how to respond.
How does My Friend Breath help to build resilience?
During the story children are introduced to the concept of taking a pause to notice when their friend Breath sounds or feels different. Learning about the importance of pausing to identify their emotional state, combined with the knowledge of how to then use their friend Breath to regulate their emotions, is the key to building resilience.
By using the read-along script alongside the book, you are given clear instructions on what to say, what to ask and what to do to help a child understand how, as a superhero, they can build their resilience by understanding how to calm uncomfortable emotions.
